Midsummer Nightmare 2025
Saturday 21st June
Arrive Friday afternoon/evening or Saturday morning
Kick-off is before midday
Distance 14-18ish miles with route choices, good watering holes, stunning scenery and steam trains. There will be food provided on Saturday evening, including locally-sourced beer, decent wine, and soft drinks. We also provide breakfast on Saturday & Sunday. For those arriving Friday, we break open the beers and normally arrange a fish & chip take-away (additional cost, PAYG).
Venue
The venue is unchanged, we’re staying at Woodyhyde campsite near Corfe Castle in Dorset. If you haven’t done it already, you can book your pitch online (https://www.woodyhyde.co.uk/ prices-booking/), giving GH3 MSN as the booking reference in the comment field.
We will be staying in the usual field (Field 3). If this is your first time, be aware that there are limited electric hookups and no dogs are allowed in Field 3, however you are welcome to camp elsewhere and join us for the r*n.
Time
The main event will start at 11:43am on the 22nd. Most of us will arrive at the campsite on Friday afternoon/evening (2oth) and depart once we’re fit to drive on the Sunday (22nd).
Route
You may have heard there have been trail closures due to landslides in the area. The new route is going to be as close to the original as possible, both in terms of distance and direction, and will be mapped and published in all of the usual places. A limited number of printed copies will be available on the day for those who prefer to navigate by paper.
For any who are unaware, the MSN route is ~15 miles (25 km), with options to make it shorter as required. Everyone generally goes at their own pace and meets at the various watering holes on the route (3 at least). Note that the route can be steep in places (~700m elevation on the full loop).
Note that it is self-navigated (no flour). If in doubt, follow whoever sounds most convincing.
Also note that the first pub is now officially the Castle Inn in Corfe Castle, not the Greyhound as it sucks.
