Midsummer Nightmare 2023
Saturday 24th June
Arrive Friday afternoon/evening or Saturday morning
Kick-off is before midday
Distance 14-18ish miles with route choices, good watering holes, stunning scenery and steam trains. There will be either a chilli or a curry (tbc) on Saturday evening, including locally-sourced beer, decent wine, and soft drinks. We also provide breakfast on Saturday & Sunday. For those arriving Friday, we break open the beers and normally arrange a fish & chip take-away (additional cost of £10).
Venue
As usual, we’re staying at Woodyhyde campsite near Corfe Castle in Dorset. If you haven’t done it already, you can book your pitch online (https://www.woodyhyde.co.uk/prices-booking/ ). Note that we usually camp at the top of Field 3, which the campsite has designated as ‘dog free’.
WHAT’S INCLUDED
- Food: breakfast on Saturday & Sunday, dinner on Saturday (either chilli or curry, tbc), nibbles.
- Drink: beer, wine, and soft drinks. Ale has been sourced from a local brewery. If you have a favourite tipple that’s not listed (e.g. prosecco, gin) please bring it yourself.
WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED
- Your camping pitch (~£24 pp), shower tokens etc
- Food & drink during the run/bimble on Saturday
- Supper on Friday
Additional costs on the day include camping ~£12 pp per night payable directly to the campsite (reference Guildford Hash House Harriers) and pie/beer money for the watering holes on the run. We do it this way to allow maximum personal flexibility.
Based at Woodyhyde camp site, the route takes in some of the most spectacular scenery around the Purbeck coast. The full run distance is around 14-18 miles, but there are many shortcuts and long-cuts to be taken. A4 maps are handed out before the run. Note that the MM are constantly reviewing the suitability of each pub and therefore the stops may change between years.
